Kim Mercer, Educator
I have always loved science and animals. I graduated with a BS in Zoology, with an emphasis in Marine Biology and then did an internship with San Diego State’s Cetacean Behavior Lab. That was followed up with a year at a neuroscience lab at Scripps Research Institute before I began a graduate program in education with plans to teach high school science. I earned my certification as a California Naturalist in 2022.
This is my 6th year teaching science classes for K-8th grade homeschoolers. What started as one class for my then-7th-grader and his friends has grown into several science classes and nature classes and hikes. I have loved my teaching experiences, especially when I get to work with small groups and tutor one-on-one. Homeschooling my kids has been a great fit, but I love connecting with other students and families as well!
