Today, we began our astronomy unit with a little peek at our solar system. We talked about the inner and outer planets, dwarf planets, and the incredibly large distances between all of these planets. The class broke into groups to come up with a mnemonic device to remember the order of the planets. We created a pocket solar system that models the distances between all of the planets. The younger kids watched a planet song, as well as some videos on the rocky inner planets and the outer gas giants. Additional ActivitiesVideos:

Mark Rober's Solar System Model This is a fun, much larger scale model than the one that we did.
